Welcome to the Dark Side…
When I walked into the MAC Store at Macy’s this fall, I was just going to buy my fail-safe reds and browns and get out of there. That’s when my eyes fell on this lovely rich purple shade (Punk Couture) and I thought there was no way in the world that I’d be able to carry it off. Since I was feeling daring I asked the MAC Artist if it would suit me and what she said made my entire month! “Honey, as long as you want to wear it… everything would look gorgeous! You could have gold lips and carry it with confidence.” We really need more people like this in the world.
I decided then that I’d just wear purple lips and ngaf. And it worked! There I am in an all black outfit wearing Punk Couture(pictured above) and reminding myself that colour is to be played with. I think a lot of us could resonate with the idea that only if a certain colour has worked with our skin tones or we are used to wearing that experimenting with lip colour is off-limits. It’s time we broke that tradition and move over to the Dark Side… (I have been hearing too much about Star Wars lately).
As a new lover of dark lips, I couldn’t resist wearing different shades with every outfit and let my lips do the talking. Red lips are sexy and dark lips are powerful. I have worn my dark lipstick in New York, London and Bangalore and got rave reviews for them all over. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try this trend right now. Winter is also a great time to be sporting this look with the gloomy weather and even if you’re in sunshine… who cares?
I broke the norm and sported Viva Glam III, also by MAC; it is a brown plum shade in broad daylight (as seen above) and I couldn’t have been happier. Don’t restrict yourself to Halloween or barely lit nightclubs, wear your darklips with grace and stand out of the crowd!
