We are already two weeks into 2017 and it’s time we start adding to our 2017 wardrobe or rummaging through our closets to find the styles that are going to be in this year according to the fashion forecast!
Here are some of the trends which have been predicted to stick around this year according to New York, Milan and Paris Fashion weeks.
1. Pink is the new nude: Aerosmith definitely knew what he was talking about when he sang…
“Pink, it’s the colour of passion
‘Cause today it just goes with the fashion Pink, it was love at first sight…”

This year it’s going to be all about Pink in every hue there is. So ladies, time to celebrate your femininity in all its glory and don those pink outfits. I’m wearing a peachy pink dress (American Outfitters) which is ideal for brunches or an afternoon about town but I chose to wear it for dinner as I wanted to see if it could double up as a breezy dinner dress and it did!
2. Stripes are always in : Stripes in any shape and size are still going to be the thing to sport! Stripes are fashion’s favourite print and mine too (not forgetting cheetah print) and will be seen in any form, shape or size. Whether it’s jumpers, crop tops or pants; stripes galore!

I’m sporting a striped co-ord skirt and crop top set from Koovs. These look so put together with minimal effort and yet when I mix and match the top with pants or jeans it gives a whole new look. Even the striped skirt goes great with block colour crop tops or a solid white shirt.
3. Slogans make a statement: 2016 saw Logomania take over the fashion circuit and now the logos have been replaced by slogans. And some of the slogans of brands like Michael Kors which has the Stop hunger campaign or Dior’s take on how everyone should be a feminist is also sending powerful messages.
Chanel’s fun slogans like Coco made me do it also is a great way to showcase your personality. It’s all about wearing your heart on your shirt (quite literally) and making a bold fashion statement at the same time. The fun element about slogan tees is that you can wear them anywhere and everywhere and give off a casual vibe.
4. Cold Shoulder your way through this year: That pun was just too hard to resist. Cold shoulder dresses have carved a space for themselves and are perfect to wear for any occassion and body type.
I picked up a cold shoulder grey shift dress from Nordstrom and it was super casual to wear for lunch with family. Cold shoulder dresses come in all styles; midis, shift dresses, bodycons and even full length styles. So go ahead and bare those shoulders!
5. Mules and Platforms: I realized that I very rarely talk about footwear, though it is super essential. After sporting Stan Smiths all of 2016, our feet need a change of scenery and here come Mules. Mules are french styled shoes which are backless and usually close-toed, they can vary in the size of the heel from flats to pointed heels.
Shown above are the most wanted mules of this year along with Platform shoes which are also going to be seen throughout the year. Mules are easy to wear and look very chic with skirts and pantsuits. As workwear they’d be ideal. As they tend to look professional as well.
So it’s time to dig out these key pieces from your wardrobe or go shopping! xx
