This if for everyone who is currently facing the crazy heat wave we have in March in b-town. I can’t believe it’s summer here already! Time to bring out all our summer clothes and not let the heat be a downer to our days about town.
I personally prefer the cold weather to anything, so this time of the year is particularly hard on me. Over the weekend when I had to go out to grab lunch, I had no clue what I could wear which would be comfy and airy and yet be a bit more stylish than just shorts. (Shorts are my go-to clothes for the summer, so be warned!)
Then as I was rummaging through my wardrobe, I chanced upon this Ann Taylor dress which was just perfect! (pictured above) I am never one for artistic prints so this is actually me venturing out of my comfort zone completely! This maxi is super breezy and comfortable, it has a very pale print on purple and is a spaghetti type of dress. It doesn’t have a lining till the end but it stops midway through the dress so it is not heavy at all.
My favourite part is the colour which is pale purple and also the ruffles which are very delicate at the last panel of the dress. If you observe the dress has three panels and that’s what makes the fit more of a shift maxi.
I paired this dress with silver butterfly earrings and a pale cream clutch from Aldo. And my old faithful silver watch from Tommy Hilfiger. I couldn’t bear wearing heels for lunch and then running some errands so I wore white flats from Atmosphere and neutralized the look. My favourite part about the summer is that I can wear my shades alll dayyy everryy dayyy! So I chose my Burberry Aviators with this and had a great brunch!
I’d say now after experimenting with new prints, that I might start incorporating more prints into my wardrobe and definitely a lot more maxis. Besides the comfort level, I think the style quotient it brings is also a definite boost. It’s just getting too hot for pants!
Time to get your maxi game on! And make sure to grab some coconut coolers too! xx
