Fashion Week! What are the first words that come to your mind when you think of it? Paris? Models? Front row celebrities? Well, all these and more make Fashion week the most awaited events for the fashion world. Just a glimpse of what fashion week is all about. Fashion weeks happen twice a year (yesss! The ones for women) in February and in September/October in the Big Four cities (New York, London, Milan, Paris) and in that exact same order. Though the concept of Fashion week was started in Paris; the first fashion week was actually held in New York City. Fashion weeks give you a taste of what’s going to be coming in next season so retailers could keep up with the trends forecast and buyers could list what they needed to have in their closet to stay ahead of the fashion curve.
This time, I picked Milan Fashion Week’s Fall/Winter 17 to write about. Handpicked a few styles I thought would do great even off the runway and five key brands which caught my interest from the various ones on display at the fashion week.
GUCCI
These are five of my favorite looks from Gucci at Milan!(Given Below) I tried to keep them as varied as possible and yet just the ones we could wear anywhere in the world and still look like we didn’t try tooo hard.
If you caught the Gucci show, you’d be blown away by the florals they showcased. It was completely Flower Power at Gucci and they went bright and BOLD. I loved the yellow and pink Japanese print on the matching pant suit. The snake print trench is also super bold and not for the fainthearted. Especially with matching boots and a bag, might be a bit too much. The other three looks are easy to carry off on the street as well which makes them super buys. The Gucci camel colour trench is safe, fashionable and oh-so elegant. The black dress does look a bit dull but if you amp it up with pearls and maybe a coloured bag, it could kill. For some reason, the white and red ensemble just screams Gucci (I knew which house it was when I saw the image) and it just has the right tones of fashion and class eased into it.
N°21 (numeroventuno)
N°21! Don’t be alarmed if you haven’t heard of it. Neither had I until I looked at their Milan Fashion Week collection and fell head over heels in love with their clothing. I mean I’d buy each and every one of their looks and be proud!
N°21 or numeroventuno had all the right elements for a show. I couldn’t even decide my five favorite looks cause all of them were so feminine and classic Italian fashion. My favorite look is the nude coloured midi which is delicate and has just enough red to be bold as well. The detailing in the ruffles is just spectacular. The other look which is so easy to put together and yet is classy and shouts Girl Scout is the brown cardigan with the pencil skirt. The maroon band and inner wear which matches just highlight the entire look. The sheer red dress is lovely and a head turner at parties. If you’re going for a dreamy, fairy-like look this light green colour dress should be your go-to as it looks ethereal. But if black is all you hoard in your wardrobe then you can’t go wrong with this simple black dress and silver leaf detailing.
MOSCHINO
Who doesn’t Love Moschino?! Moschino didn’t fail to live up to its fan following and I bet you can recognize Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid scorching up the ramp for them.
My favorite look of theirs would be the gorgeous sequinned multi-glitter tube dress with all kinds of fur giving it the royal look of the show! I think it is just perfect and just stole the show. The other silver mesh/glitter look is also very fashion forward. My close second would be the air-hostess look which is in nude shades and is a matching suit-skirt set. It would be easy to carry off at work as well and is still so well put together. For a day about town or day out with your girls, the just trench in grey with a scarf oozes Elan. If you want to be bold and futuristic or are a rock-star, your definite pick should be the white bandage dress with the taped up look.
PRADA
Prada has always been a classic brand and they’ve stayed true to their form in their Fall/Winter 17. Though they’ve mixed and matched a couple of looks, they haven’t veered off course from their essence.
My favorite look from their show was definitely the brown pantsuit set. It is something you can wear to a meeting to own it or even to a night out and look like a boss! They had a little floral in their looks as well, this floral coat is feminine and yet not overwhelming. The peach dress which has a combination of sequins and feathers is super experimental but looks lovely. The other peach and black dresses which are maxis with center slits are so casual but definitely the looks I think would sell the most. They can be worn anytime and anywhere and dressed up and down as you pleased. (Quite similar to a look I wore just a couple of weeks ago)
FAY
Since I wasn’t featuring Street Style at Fashion week, I decided to save some of the best for the last! You could possibly wear each and every one of these looks from Fay at the end of the year.
This is yet another brand that just knocked my socks off! I can’t choose a favorite. They have taken street style and put in on the ramp instead of vice versa. My favorite is the all white look which is just timeless. The checkered trench is also a knockout. The other checkered outfit which is a co-ord is great and girly as well. If you’re looking to stand out, I’d suggest the all black look which has a short blazer thrown on a mini with a nice zipper. The leather skirt with work on it is bold and a great statement piece to throw on just a black loose top.
Anyway, these should help you get an idea of what lies ahead for our Fall/Winter 17. Be sure to follow the rest of the Italian fashion week!
Time to soak up some sun, bare your legs and drink some bellinis! Saluti! xx
